The OLTCC Medical Director Course is designed to prepare physicians working in long-term care to be informed and skilled Medical Directors. With a thorough knowledge of the sector and development of appropriate skills, LTC medical directors will improve the quality of care for residents in their facilities. 

The OLTCC’s Medical Director Course is mandated by the Ministry of Long Term Care for all Medical Directors in Ontario to take the course within a year of being in their position, or those that have not yet taken the course and have been a Medical Director for a number of years.  Here is the link to that legislation and what it outlines: Section 251 (1) #4 https://www.ontario.ca/laws/regulation/220246#BK311

This course is open to all Medical Directors, Incoming Medical Directors, Nurse Practitioners and others.

Registration Fees

Funding for all Medical Directors and incoming Medical Directors, including travel expenses, are provided by the Ministry of Long-Term Care so their registration fee is waived. 

For all other clinical positions, the course fee is $1200.00 plus HST and travel expenses are not included.

Schedule

The course runs 8:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Onsite check-in begins at 7:00 am daily. 

Participants are required to read all Course materials before arrival. Course chapters are housed in the members only section of the OLTCC website and can be accessed through the Members Only tab.
