OVERVIEW

Practical Pearls in Long Term Care is the annual conference for the Ontario Long Term Care Clinicians.  The 2026 conference will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Toronto, October 23 to October 25, 2026.



Workshop submissions will be accepted for the following formats:

1. 30-minute session (20 min presentation, 10 min Q&A)
In this 30-minute session the goal is to provide attendees with one or two practical tips that will help them change their practice immediately. 
2. 60-minute traditional presentation (45 min presentation, 15 min Q&A)
In this one-hour session the presenters will provide a more in-depth presentation on a topic, leaving sufficient time for discussion with the audience.
3. 3-hour interactive workshop
The 3-hour workshop should be comprehensive and must be interactive, meaningfully engaging the audience in the topics presented.

Note: Dependent on the final program, you may be asked to repeat your workshop the same day at a different time.

If accepted the OLTCC is offering one complimentary conference registration per workshop topic for the day you would be presenting. By definition of per workshop, it means per topic. Please note – this is not per speaker, but per workshop. The presenters will decide amongst themselves who will receive the complimentary registration. There is no other remuneration under the Accepted Workshop category.

Workshop topics are relevant to clinical, regulatory or ethical care in the nursing home, and provide case examples.  The Conference Planning Committee will review presentation proposals for the 2026 conference and determine if it will be accepted.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  • Within the submission form, you will be asked to provide the following:
  • Presenters’ names, contact details, and credentials (max. 2 presenters)
  • Potential conflicts of interest for each speaker. If accepted, a completed conflict of interest form will be requested from each speaker.
  • Workshop title
  • Three (3) Learning objectives
  • Workshop abstract (max. 250 words)
  • Relevance for long term care clinicians (max. 75 words)
  • Target audience
  • Key themes or topics covered
  • Instructional methods used
  • Identify which CanMEDS roles are addressed in the session
  • Select session format (30 minutes, 60 minutes or 3 hours)
  • Presenter availability
Workshop forms must be submitted no later than Tuesday, March 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET.
