The OLTCC Virtual Medical Director Course is designed to prepare physicians working in long-term care to be informed and skilled Medical Directors. With a thorough understanding of the sector and development of strong leadership and management skills, LTC Medical Directors are better equipped to improve the quality of care for residents in their facilities.
The OLTCC’s Medical Director Course is mandated by the Ministry of Long-Term Care (Ontario) for all Medical Directors in the province to complete within one year of assuming the role—or for those who have served as a Medical Director for several years but have not yet taken the course.
You can review the legislation here: Section 251 (1) #4.
This course is open to all Medical Directors, Incoming Medical Directors, Nurse Practitioners, and other clinicians working in or interested in the long-term care sector.
Although this program is geared toward Ontario Medical Directors, clinicians across Canada are welcome to attend to expand their understanding of long-term care medical leadership.
However, as this course is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Long-Term Care, only current or incoming Ontario Medical Directors are eligible for sponsored registration.
All other participants must register at a fee of $1,250.00 + HST.
Schedule
The virtual course begins Friday, January 16, 2026, and runs for four consecutive Fridays (January 16th, January 23rd, January 30th and February 6th, 2026) from 1:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. (EST).
Attendance at all four sessions, with full engagement, along with completion of other course requirements, is required to receive a Certificate of Completion.
